Hatfields are proud to have the largest display of classic and contemporary rugs in Colchester with quality, design and choice as our philosophy.

Prominently featured within our flooring department is the Belgian flooring brand Louis de Poortere, for which we have long been a stockist of their quality floorcoverings. Louis de Poortere aim to be more than just a manufacturer of carpets however, which has become evident in recent years with the creativity and passion they have put into their rug development. This has culminated in their ability to offer an exciting range of rug designs and colour ways to suit every home.

The Mad Men collection encompasses several ranges within and offers a choice of ‘vintage sixties’ inspired rugs. A highlight within the collection is ‘Cracks’, available in 3 earthy  colours and designed to show a surface of cracked ice, as you would find on the ice rink of Rockefeller Square.

‘Medallion’ from the Fading World collection offers a contemporary twist on a traditionally styled rug with a central medallion drawing or pattern. The ancient classic has been transformed for modern day with distressed areas and the erasing of pattern sections, with the addition of vibrant colour accents.

Another growing favourite is the ‘Babylon’ also from the Fading World collection. Designed with a multi layered composition of floral, Arabic geometric and distressed elements, this range comes in 4 soft earthy hues. Like with all Louis de Poortere rugs, Babylon is woven on jacquard looms with cotton chenille yarns with the highest quality and craftsmanship. All rugs are available in a wide range of sizes and colourways to suit different living areas within the home.

Designed to shimmer and stun as you enter a room, the newest collection from the brand is the ‘Splendore di Venezia’ - a collection of 7  new ranges. Alan Russell, Hatfields’ sales representative for Louis De Poortere, says: “Splendore di Venezia uses its specialised high-gloss raffia yarn as an ode to the precious metals, rare stones and noble fabrics adorning homes and clothing of classical Venice’s elite. It’s a fabulous look that invites a closer look at the collections geometric and abstract patterns, revealing enchanting detail. The collection also underlines the exceptional efforts of our design and development team to bring homeowners fresh and exciting concepts not seen before.”
